  • Work with customers (internal and external) to develop, manage and verify system and sub-system requirements using industry standards including System Requirements Verification Matrices.
  • Develop and maintain physics based 6 Degree of Freedom (DOF) models including vehicle coefficients for the design, simulation and optimization of REMUS <img style="float: right;" src="https://hydroid.icims.com/icims2/servlet/icims2?module=AppInert&action=download&id=4464&hashed=-2014595103" alt="Hydroid-Cutrona-0483" width="337" height="225" />underwater vehicle controllers.
  • Apply principles of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to the development of complete vehicle systems models for the REMUS family of underwater vehicles.
  • Generate and execute formal test programs for validation and verification of vehicle performance and models.
  • Transition model outputs to embedded control software and hardware.
  • Troubleshoot vehicle performance issues and communicate recommendations to development teams.
  • Perform capability assessments and define capability gaps and recommend mitigation plans.
  • Provide technical writing and estimates of labor and cost of materials for proposal efforts.
  • ~10% at sea as required.
  • ~10% business travel as required.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.


  • Master degree (M.S.) in electrical, mechanical, computer or aerospace engineering with focus in control systems; and 10-15 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in the design, integration and test of autonomous controls systems.
  • Proficient with MATLAB, Simulink, and State Flow.
  • Experience building systems models, conducting analysis, and providing recommendations within a team environment on multiple projects.
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approaches and workflows for real-time embedded control systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • The ideal candidate is an individual that can work in a fast paced environment; with a high attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills, ability to multi-task and enthusiastic attitude.


Preferred Experience:

  • Hydrodynamics and/or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling, simulation and analysis.
  • Experience with COTS Hardware-In-the-Loop and rapid prototyping systems such as dSpace, NI or Speedgoat.
  • Experience with Simulink Coder (or equivalent) for automatic code generation.
  • Utilization of SysML tools in support of MBSE: (preferred) NoMagic, MagicDraw or IBM Rational Rhapsody.
  • Requirements Management utilizing IBM Rational DOORS; others considered if applicable.
  • Robot Operating Systems (ROS) (integration with MBD, Mission Oriented Operating Suite (MOOS).
  • Solidworks; Enterprise PDM; JIRA; VISIO and Deltek.
  • C/C++ programming.
  • Underwater manufacturing or manufacturing experience is a plus.
