To design and develop learning and practicing experiences. The goal is to facilitate learners in acquiring knowledge, skills and competencies in an effective and appealing manner for high technology marine robotic systems. 

  • Create engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer<img style="float: right;" src="https://hydroid.icims.com/icims2/servlet/icims2?module=AppInert&action=download&id=4464&hashed=-2014595103" alt="Hydroid-Cutrona-0483" width="337" height="225" />
  • Work with subject matter experts and identify target audience’s training needs
  • State instructional end goals and create content that matches them. Provide exercises and activities that enhance the learning process. Create supporting material/media (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games etc.)
  • Visualize instructional graphics, the user interface and the finished product. Engage Vendors where appropriate, and manage the supplier relationship.
  • Develop train-the-trainer courses for Field Technicians by interpreting customer applications and needs.
  • Decide on the criteria used to judge learner’s performance, trainer’s performance and develop assessment instruments.
  • Apply project management principles based on a delivery schedule to ensure that project deadlines are met. Maintain course materials, and project documentation.
  • Gather and analyze customer feedback and program evaluations to modify content as appropriate to improve training effectiveness on an on-going basis.
  • May participate in internal work flow review, process design and improvement.
  • Subject Matter Expertise may be utilized in other Customer facing tasks as required by Hydroid Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • BS or MA degree in instructional design, educational technology or similar, or equivilent military or corporate experience.
  • Desired experience in producing high quality training product deliverables
  • Desired technical or application experience related to unmanned systems or marine robotics.
  • Desired, working knowledge of elearning software authoring tools and learning management systems.
  • Desired a demonstrated experience of operating equipment on small boats.
  • Experience with development of customer-focused training materials and technical documentation including troubleshooting and maintenance procedure development.
  • Current in educational tools, methods and techniques.
  • Strong consultation and customer management skills. Ability to self-manage and meet deadlines in a project environment.
  • The ideal candidate is an individual that can work in a fast paced environment; with a high attention to detail, excellent problem solving skills, ability to multi-task and enthusiastic attitude.


A condition of this position will require the successful Applicant to pass a government security investigation and must subsequently receive authorization to access US Department of Defense Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”) and potentially classified information.
