Responsibilities

Lead an interdisciplinary approach to a variety of efforts relating to technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for autonomous marine systems. This person will work closely with the engineering team to transfer product definitions into verifiable specifications that result in successfully released products.

 

  • Work with customers (internal and external) to define product life-cycle needs, and evolve needs into system requirements using industry and Government standards
  • Performs system engineering tasking to include requirements allocation, interface definition, product requirement management, in the context of technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Perform technical analyses throughout a product lifecycle to support concept development, design, fabrication, testing, installation, operation, and maintenance.
  • Generate and execute test programs for validation and verification of vehicle and model performance.
  • Contributes to the creation and maintenance of a documented and released System Engineering process to achieve Hydroid business goals.
  • 10% at sea as required.
  • 10% business travel as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering from four-year College or university or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years related and/or training experience or equivalent combination of education and experience with design of complex systems.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience conducting System Engineering functions, including requirements management and system architecture design.
  • Experience with marine systems.
  • Experience with control systems modeling and design.
  • Experience with Defense acquisition policies, including DoD 5000 and related system engineering guidance
  • Experience with configuration management in a DoD environment.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with generation of work for ROM/Proposal, including basis of estimate and technical content.
  • Experience with IBM DOORS Requirements Management software.
  • Experience with Atlassian tool suite (e.g., JIRA/Confluence).
  • Experience with Lean/Agile Development Methodologies (e.g., Kanban/SCRUM).
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) Tools (e.g., MagicDraw/Rhapsody).
  • Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink for Model Based Design, Simulation and Data Analysis.
  • Experience and/or training in CMMI Appraisal and Gap Assessments is a plus.
  • Experience with Graphical User Interface requirements development and test approaches.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

A condition of this position will require the successful Applicant to pass a government security investigation and must subsequently receive authorization to access US Department of Defense Controlled Unclassified Information (“CUI”) and potentially classified information.
