  • Overview

    Kongsberg Underwater Technology Inc. (KUTI) supports the U.S. government, leading research institutions and commercial survey companies with turnkey marine technology solutions and technical services.  We develop, manufacture, market and support the Seaglider® AUV system from our Lynnwood, WA facility in close cooperation with the original developer, the University of Washington.  KUTI is a fully owned subsidiary of Hydroid, Inc. Both KUTI and Hydroid remain part of the Kongsberg group of companies.

    Responsibilities

    Perform a variety of production assembly operations, repairs, upgrades and functional testing of autonomous underwater vehicles.  Specific duties include,

     

    • Work from drawings, method sheets and other specifications to assemble new production parts using a variety of hand and power tools with meticulous attention to detail.
    • Work from method sheets and check lists to assemble new complete vehicles.
    • Perform maintenance and or upgrades of existing customer vehicles.
    • Document all work completed according to company policy and submit on a daily basis legibly and accurately.
    • Perform all administrative duties and documentation according to company policies and procedures.
    • Work closely with management to ensure timely completion of production vehicles, repairs and service work.
    • Perform in-process testing of sub-assemblies and final testing of completed systems using computer interfaces or other methods as necessary.
    • Maintain and assure that all associated documentation is correct.
    • Understand and follow quality control and inspection procedures.
    • Maintain production tooling equipment as necessary
    • Adhere to environmental and safety procedures associated with production processes.
    • Collect, maintain and report data from production processes. Be able to review data and determine when any system performance is out of specification.
    • Assist as necessary in field testing of completed systems. Working knowledge of use of auxiliary equipment (launch/recovery, tracking).
    • Perform system trouble shooting; visual inspection, use of DVM, basic schematic reading. 
    • Other duties as assigned.

     

     

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Strong technical aptitude.
    • Excellent written & verbal skills.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    • Basic knowledge of MRP systems is a plus.
    • Post high school education or training in a technical discipline is a plus.
    • Boat handling experience is a plus.
    • Valid Driver’s License.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
